Intex was the first to launch an Octa Core smartphone, Intex Aqua Octa, at the end of last year and a few months later many other rivals have arrived. The latest in line is Gionee Elife S5.5, which also flaunts the title of worlds slimmest phone and possess the raw grunt of 8 CPU cores inside its slim chassis. Let’s put them head to head to head to know where they stand next to each other.
Display and Processor
The Intex Aqua Octa features 244 ppi IPS LCD display, which is 6 inches in size and bears 720p HD resolution. The Gionee Elife S5.5 features more pixels (1080p resolution)on a smaller 5 inch display which makes it significantly sharper with 441 pixels per inches. If you are looking for some extra large screen real estate, Intex Aqua Octa will suit you better.
More conspicuous difference between the two is the display technology. Elife S5.5 features Super AMOLED Display panel which gives better contrast and darker darks, which will definitely enhance your video viewing experience.
On the processing front, both are powered by MT6592 True octa core chipset from Taiwanese giant MediaTek. The 8 cores are based on Cortex A7 architecture and formed on 28 nm process technology. The GPU used is Mali 450 MP4 GPU clocked at 700 MHz and RAM capacity is 2 GB in both of these devices.
Camera and Internal storage
Though most octa core phones features 16 MP camera units, Intex and Gionee have both opted for a 13 MP shooter at the rear and that is something we like. In practice Gionee Elife S5.5 has slightly better camera performance. Both phones have a 5 MP sensor in secondary camera but Gionee has employed a wide angle lens which makes it better suited for selfies and video recording.
The internal storage in both smartphones is 16 GB, but Intex Aqua Octa will provide you with an option for MicroSD card support for up to 32 GB which makes it a winner in this department.
Battery and Other Features
The battery capacity is rated at 2300 mAh in both of these smartphones. Intex Aqua Octa has a bigger display which is expected to be more power hungry, but the greatest advantage here is that the battery is removable.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 on the other hand sources its good quality battery from the global giant Samsung. In our time with the device Gionee Elife S5.5 got heated up pretty fast because of the slim body design and that might affect battery adversely in the long run.
Intex Aqua Octa supports dual SIM connectivity and runs on Android 4.2 jelly bean operating system which is mostly stock android with some preloaded apps. Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with Amigo 2.0 Rom on top of Android 4.2 jelly bean.

Conclusion
Both phones lie in separate league because of the vast difference in display size. Intex Aqua Octa is also fairly cheaper than Elife S5.5. Although Elife S5.5 is the slimmest out there, Intex Aqua Octa is also 7 mm Thick which makes the large form factor easier to manage. Gionee Elife S5.5 seems better for day to day ussage but compromises like lack of MicroSD card slot and non removable battery might make it a deal breaker for many. It also lies dangerously close to the price range of phones like Moto X which further makes it a tough sell. Having said that, their certainly lies a panache in owning the world’s slimmest phone. Let’s see how long Gionee retains the title belt.
