Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 VS Micromax XL A119 Comparison Overview

As time is passing the size of the smartphones is increasing and they are venturing into the tablet arena with ease. The lines between the tablets and smartphones are blurring and we have our good old phablets as a result. Micromax, the country’s number 2 smartphone manufacturer has been launching a slew of phablets in the country and the latest one to join the ranks is the Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 for Rs 8,500. It will be going up against its sibling Canvas XL A119 which is on sale for around Rs 13,000-13,500 for getting a better VFM tag. Let us see how the two stack up against each other:

Display and Processor

Both of them come with a 6 inch screen albeit with different resolutions. The Doodle 3 comes has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels wheeras the Canvas XL comes with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. You can notice a decent level of pixelation in the former so we suggest that Canvas XL makes slightly more sense. But then there is the price difference as well of almost Rs 5,000.

The Canvas Doodle 3 gets a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor and the Canvas XL on the other hand gets a 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6582 processor which is indeed a better performer than its sibling. Both of them justify their price tags but the Canvas XL is a better performer than the Canvas Doodle 3 any day.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Doodle 3 gets a 5MP camera at the rear coupled with a VGA camera up front and its imaging unit comes a far second to that of the Canvas XL A119. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The imaging units of both the devices aren’t something that would be appreciated by photography buffs but are good enough to get things done.

Both of them have identical internal storage capacities of 4GB which are expandable by another 32GB so there’s not much to choose among the two of them.

Battery and Features

The Doodle 3 gets a battery unit rated at 2,500 mAh whereas the one in Canvas XL is a 2,450 mAh one. The Doodle 3 has a spec sheet a step down from the Canvas XL but will last more as a result of higher capacity and lower consumption due to lower resources.

Both run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and an update in future seems highly unlikely for both of them. However Micromax is offering BigFlix usage free for 6 months and a magnetic flip cover as well for free alongside the Doodle 3.
