According to reports from various outlets, Sony is preparing for an event scheduled May 8th, an event which will apparently see the launch of their current flagship, the Sony Xperia Z2. ET has gone on to report that the Japanese maker has started sending out invites for the same already.
The smartphone was initially showcased at the Mobile World Congress in February this year, with specifications to match any other flagship from around the world. This includes a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display, a Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU with a clock of 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. All this on the Xperia Z2 is powered by a 3200mAh battery, and taken control of by Google’s Android, version 4.4 KitKat.

Like other Sony flagships we’ve seen in the past, this one too boasts an imaging department that is supposed to be a notch better than any other flagship in the market. This is achieved by a 20.7MP Exmor sensor at the rear of the device, which is accompanied by a 2.2MP front. Again, Sony have maintained the ruggedness once again with IP certification which confirms the device’s water/dust proof nature.
Besides the Xperia Z2 smartphone, Sony is also expected to unveil the Xperia Z2 tablet and the Sony smartband at the event. Stay tuned for more on this!
