Microsoft Launched Nokia Lumia 630 Which Tracks Your Steps and Do more without any Smartband

Nokia today launched  Nokia Lumia 630 in India starting from 10,500 INR. Apart from being the first Windows Phone 8.1 device (and several other firsts), Lumia 630 will bring Nokia SensorCore to India which was earlier announced at Nokia Build Conference.

Nokia SensorCore provides API or protocols which let applications dive into Lumia Sensors data. For now, Bing Health and Fitness App will make use of Nokia SensorCore, and record how many steps you take, distance traveled and Calories burnt – everything you would expect from a fitness smartband can be done on the nokia lumia 630 with low power motion sensor in built.

Bing Health and Fitness App

Bing Health & Fitness app helps you stay on top of health and fitness trends and provides the tools you need to support a healthy lifestyle. Designed for Windows Phone, the Health & Fitness app brings together great fitness, nutrition and health content, along with trackers, tools and other features. Set your daily calorie goal, record what you eat and get nutritional information for over 300,000 foods. Choose from hundreds of workouts and exercises with step-by-step instructions, photos and video.

You can use the GPS tracker to record your time, distance, pace and calories burned while you walk, run, bike and do other activities. Enter symptoms to get information on possible health conditions with the Interactive Symptom Checker. Keep your tracker data synced

The key achievement here is that Microsoft has managed all this constant monitoring light on battery. Nokia SensorCore will allow apps to access step counter, activity info and location information without being overly taxing on your Lumia Battery. This opens endless possibilities for developers and perhaps we will see some clever apps making use of your phone sensor information.

“If you’re a Windows Phone developer and you want to make apps based on real-time sensor data coming directly from your customers, you’re going to need the Nokia SensorCore SDK that will be available to download soon from Nokia Developer” tells Mikko Lonnfors, Lead Program Manager at Nokia

The Nokia SensorCore SDK will be available initially for Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon, Lumia 930, Lumia 630 and 635, running on Windows Phone 8.1.
