HTC One Mini 2 with 13 MP Camera and Android KitKat Goes Official

After many rumors and speculations, the miniature variant of HTC’s flagship phone One M8 is now official. Well, the Taiwanese tech firm took the wraps off the One Mini 2, the successor of the One Mini launched last year. This handset appears to have grown in size and it comes with a groovier design similar that of its bigger brother.

HTC has given the handset a 4.5 inch HD 720 pixel display that results in an above average pixel density of 326 ppi. The display is layered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for added protection. Also, the curved design of the handset is good to feel despite the fact that it is 1 mm thicker than its predecessor. Under its hood, the One Mini 2 operates a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC that comprises of a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor, Adreno 305 graphics unit and 1 GB of RAM.

Meeting the storage requirements of the users is 16 GB of default storage space that can further be expanded up to whopping 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card slot. Adhering to the previous rumors, the One Mini 2 does not implement the UltraPixel camera technology. Instead, the device features a 13 MP primary camera with BSI sensor and f/2.2 aperture lens. Also, there is a 5 MP front-facer onboard that assists in FHD 1080p video calling.

On the connectivity front, the HTC One Mini 2 is packed with a host of features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS, LTE and NFC. The 2,100 mAh battery in the handset is claimed to last for up to 16 hours of talk time on 3G. The handset runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and it is topped with the Sense 6.0 UI.


At this point of time, there is no information regarding the pricing of the handset, but it is claimed that it will be launched in EMEA and North Asia in June in three color options – Gunmetal Gray, Amber Gold and Glacial Silver variants.
