Micromax Unite 2 Unboxing, Review, Features, Price, Benchmarks, Camera, Software and Overview

Design, Form Factor and Display

On the first impression Micromax Unite 2 looks like a conventional Micromax phone. The phone has comparable weight to Moto E and it’s not too thick either. There is no chrome lining around the edges and loud speaker is present at the rear side.

The display is 4.7 IPS LCD Display inches in size and quite bright. The display resolution is slightly low with 480 x 800 pixels and its noticeable. Color reproduction and contrast ratio aren’t very impressive either. Overall, the build quality isn’t as impressive as that of Moto E, but is reasonably good in this price range.

Processor and RAM

We knew at the start of the year that MT6582 will redefine budget quad core devices in Indian market, but it’s pleasantly surprising that Micromax is offering 1.3 GHz Quad core chipset with 1 GB RAM at such low price point.

It scored 8711 on Quadrants benchmark, 16729 on Antutu benchmarks and 63.3 fps on Nenamarks. This implies you will be able to comfortably play graphic intensive games on this device. Apps can also be installed directly on MicroSD card to further help your cause. The chipset can also play full HD and HD videos comfortably unlike Moto E.

Camera and Internal Storage

Front 2 MP camera is an average performer. The rear 5 MP unit is at par with some of the best 5 MP cameras that we have come across. The camera app is stock camera app and camera supports auto focus and tab to focus. It  didn’t focus very well in macro mode and took some time to focus in absence of artificial light, but in this price range, the camera is certainly among the best. The camera can record 720p HD videos and is supported by LED flash. For a better insight you can watch the unite 2 Camera samples below.

Internal strorage is standard 4 GB and can be further extended to 32 GB using MicroSD support. You can also install apps directly on SD card and thus, you can opt for a high quality SDHC card to deal with your individual storage requirement.

User Interface and Battery

The UI is mostly stock Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with slight customizations on top. The UI transitions weren’t as smooth as we saw on Moto E, but you won’t be disappointed with the performance. Micromax has also guaranteed future Software update via FOTA.

Battery capacity is 2000 mAh and more importantly, Battery is removable and replaceable. It’s still too early to comment on the backup as we have had the device for only 1 day as of now. With benchmark testing, small amount of time spend on youtube, some light games and social networking, Micromax Unite 2 has managed to cross 1 day mark. We can expect the device to last one day with low to moderate usage.

In internal storage i can see 2 options Phone storage and Internal SD card, whats the difference among them???
And my phone storage is just of 800 MB and its getting almost full, my Internal SD card is of 1.70 GB and its fully empty, how can i install apps on Internal SD card and not on phone storage so that my phone wont get hang

  6. my notifications are not come when connected to office WiFi..notifications come smoothly when it connected through mobile data…is that problem related to phone..or some other issue.. can you please tell me where’s the issue..

    • depends on person to person according to what you will use it for. I don’t do much gaming. In budget price range i will opt for Xiaomi 1S, then Moto E and then Zenfone 4.5

  7. Hi bro , I wanna buy this phn ….actually I already have ordered it …… but I have listened that there is some problem with USB O.T.G cable and YouTube in this phone ……. so I wanna know ….. if is something really wrong there ?????

    • if not bothered about gaming and Camera why not try Moto E? we haven’t tested Fire 2 yet so we can’t say for now

      • ok…. but there are no proper service center for Motorola in Tamil Nadu, if anything goes wrong in future then it will be a trouble for me…….fine, Unite 2 vs Moto E which is best to buy ????

        • camera of Unite 2 is much better than Moto E. Display of Moto E is better. build quality is better for Moto E.This was on basis of our review units.
on gadgetstouse we receiver more complaints about Unite 2 as compared to Moto E from users who have been using these devices.

  8. I have understood that the apps can be moved from phone memory to external sd card & it can also directly be installed on external sd card. But even after installing the application on sd card, what would happen to app data? The problem is app data is still stored in phone storage of .89 gb…so even if you install apps on sd card that makes it useless ,,,even though the other phone memory partition “internal SD card ” is empty. So I am not sure is there any solution of this problem. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • i don’t have the unite 2 with me as of now, but generally the apps data doesn’t store in apps storage space Some preloaded apps store their data on internal storage and you should disable or remove them by rooting. disable all preloaded apps which you don’t use

But i also listing from to anybody This model is also available in 8 gb internal memory.
    that is true ?
