Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

HP Slate 6 voice tab has decent built quality, the material used are plastic but the overall looks of this device makes it look quite premium. It combines a decent build quality and good hardware together. Design is not something which seems unique but golden color edge frame and the matte finish texture back cover does enhance the looks of the device. It has thickness of around 8.8 mm which again makes this phablet fairly thin and weight of 160 grams is also not much comparing it with other devices with same display size. It is slightly big to hold in one hand but does not slip out of hand because of the matte finish rear cover, but yes its not a pocket friendly device but still goes in jeans pocket with bulge.

Camera Performance

The rear camera is 5 MP which can take decent shots in day light and low light performance is decent if not too good. The camera UI is stock android which makes things simple but at times it gets difficult to access camera settings. It can also record HD video from rear camera. Front camera is 2MP which can be used for Video chat and video call but the video feed is going to average with fixed focus front camera.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has IPS display 6 Inch with 720×1280 resolution which gives around 245 pixels per inch, again don’t expect the display to look very crisp but you wont see the pixels with naked eyes unless you take a very closer look. It has decent viewing angles and sun light visibility is also good if not great. In built memory of the device is 16Gb out of which you get around 12Gb user available and you also get a microSD card slot but you wont be able to install apps on the SD card. The overall battery backup you will get will be around 1 day of usage, but when you play HD games and watch videos the battery drains faster and in that case you will not get one day of battery backup from this device.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software is stock android with no or very less level of customization. User interface is smooth and transitions are also smooth but animations can get laggy at times specially when you run multiple apps and games in the background. It is decent in terms of the gaming as it can run casual and graphic intensive games but you might experience slight amount of frame drops but you can play most of the HD games on this device.

Benchmark Scores

  • Quadrant Standard Edition: 3467
  • Antutu Benchmark: 11067
  • Nenamark2: 45.1 fps
  • Multi Touch:  5 point

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound which comes out from the device is quite loud and clear but again its not the loudest we have heard. It can also play HD video as well some of the videos at 1080p videos may not play but you can play them using 3rd party video player like MX Player. GPS navigation also works on this device with the help of assisted GPS, it does take like 1-2 minutes to lock the GPS coordinates.

What We Liked

  • Great Looks
  • Light Weight
  • Good From Factor and slimness

What We Did Not Liked

  • Average Camera Quality
  • Limited one handed usage

Conclusion and Price

HP Slate 6 Voice Tab is available in the market for a price approx 17,000 INR approx which makes it slightly higher in terms of price but it does offer great built quality, looks and big display for this price. The only thing which we did not liked much about the device is its big size which is actually not a problem for many users out there, another things which could have been better is the camera UI but you can also use third party camera apps so this point is not a deal breaker in this case.
