Change Resolution while playing YouTube Videos on Android

Google has today launched an important update for YouTube, especially considering Mobile users in India, where high speed internet is not a common phenomenon. With the new update users can now decide the quality in which they would like to view YouTube videos, thus providing with the option to save precious cellular network data pack.

Earlier users had to choose between HD and HQ and now you can manually select resolution from between 144p, 240p, 360p and 720p videos. We could not get the new Youtube App to play 1080p Videos yet. This is quite significant change and was available on iOS version of the App for quite some time.

You will still have to wait for advertisement to be over before you can hit the triple dots on the right corner and select the appropriate resolution after hitting the familiar Cog wheel. You can also select auto mode which set’s resolution according to your internet speed.

How to Download

The upgrade is from Youtube version 5.6.36 to 5.7.36 and is 8 MB in sizeGoogle will eventually roll out the update on Playstore and it will take some time before everybody gets it. You can of course, download the APK and install it by simply locating and taping it in any file manager.
