Design, Form Factor and Display
The Tablet has above average build quality. It’s not metal, but it’s good quality plastic. It felt slightly heavy in hand compared to other 7 inch tablets. The insignia on the rear plays a spoiler on the glossy back cover, but with several color book cases that flipkart is offering, Build quality won’t be a major issue. The display, however might be.
The 7 inch display is an IPS LCD panel but the viewing angles are not good. The color reproduction isn’t perfect either. The display was quite reflective and it wouldn’t be easy to read on it outdoors. So, if you like to read ebooks and are excited about 2300 INR worth of free books Flipkart is offering, you might want to reconsider.
Processor and RAM
Processor employed is 1.3 GHz quad core chipset MTK8382, with Cortex A9 cores, and has been designed for entry level tablets. The chipset is aided with Mali 400 Mp2 GPU clocked at 500 MHz and is expected to be an average performer.
The RAM capacity is 1 GB and this is the most you can expect in this price range. In our initial time with the device there was no UI lag, but we don’t expect the same to be true with extended usage.
Camera and Internal Storage
The 7 inch Tablet form factor is generally not used for photography, but Flipkart has provided with a good 5 MP autofocus camera at the rear capable of recording HD videos and supported with LED flash. The camera quality was quite decent in our initial testing.
Internal storage is 16 GB and can be further expanded using a MicroSD card slot. The internal storage leaves nothing to complain about and will suffice for most users. You get what you pay for.
User Interface and Battery
The user interface is stock Android 4.4.2 Jelly bean which is slightly dated as of now. Google has already introduced Android L to the world which makes jelly bean a dated andorid version, battery capacity is 3000 mAh and according to flipkart, this dual SIM tablet will last for about 8 hours of talk time and a week of standby time. We would like to test these claims before accepting them. The battery back up sounds decent enough for a budget tablet on paper.

Conclusion
Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT 712 comes with standard hardware and a not so good display. The introductory offers however are meaningful and will reduce the effective cost to 5K for most people and for this price the tablet is a pretty good deal. If you are planning to buy this one, you can always make use of 30 day try and buy offer. Just try it for a couple of weeks to judge if it will suffice for your usage.
