Xolo Win Q900s Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Last month, Microsoft announced its partnership with some of the India based manufacturers and of them is Xolo. While another partner Micromax has already came up with couple of Windows Phone offerings, Xolo has unleashed its first ever Windows Phone 8.1 based handset dubbed Win Q900s. The handset is acclaimed for being the lightest smartphone in the world measuring only 100 grams in weight. Now, let us take a look at the quick review of the Xolo Win Q900s in detail.

Camera and Internal Storage

The camera unit at the back of the Xolo Win Q900s is an 8 MP one which is coupled with a LED Flash. It uses the PureCel technology that is a lineup of power efficient camera sensors made by OmniVision. This sensor appears to be capable of FHD 1080p video recording and by saying it is power efficient we mean that it will not consume too much of the battery life. Also onboard is a 2 MP front-facing snapper that helps in making quality video calls and in clicking stunning selfies.

The native storage capacity of the handset is 8 GB and this can be expanded with the help of the expansion memory card slot in the device. This internal storage space is pretty much enhanced as compared to the 4 GB of storage in its competitors.

Processor and Battery

The device is based on the Qualcomm reference design that comprises of a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 processor paired with 400 MHz Adreno 302 graphics unit. We can see a similar chipset in the other Windows Phone offerings as well as all of them are based on the same reference design. The main advantage of this reference design is that it consumes less power and hence will prevent the battery drain issue to a great extent. This processor is paired with 1 GB of RAM that sweetens the deal when it comes to multi-tasking.

The battery unit inside the Xolo Win Q900s is a 1,800 mAh one that is acceptable as it can handle delivering a decent backup to the device as there is a power efficient camera, processor and slim design.

Display and Features

The Xolo Win Q900s uses a 4.7 inch IPS OGS panel that boasts a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels that translates to a pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. The panel is a scratch resistant Dragon Trail Glass and it should protect the screen from scratches and damage due to everyday use. While the IPS technology can provide better viewing angles, the OGS technology keeps the panel slim contributing to the light weight profile of the handset.

It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 OS and features dual SIM with dual standby along with other connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Comparison

From the specifications and pricing, the Xolo Win Q900s can compete with Micromax Canvas Win Q121, Nokia Lumia 630, Intex Aqua i5 HD, Moto G and others.
