Intex has introduced Intex Aqua i3 for Indian market which stills seems to be stuck on dated hardware in a time where quad cores are selling for dirt cheap prices. Does this phone packs enough arsenal to garner a significant market share? Let’s take a looks.

The rear camera unit has an 8 MP sensor which sounds above average on paper in this price range judging by the Megapixel count alone. Photography segment in this price segment has been basic all along and perhaps a more detailed 8 MP unit will make a difference. You will also get a 2 MP front shooter for video calling.
Internal storage is same 4 GB, expandable to 32 GB using MicroSD card slot. In the same price range, Micromax Unite A092 provides with 8 GB internal storage.
Processor and Battery
The chipset of Intex Aqua i3 is quite dated. Intex has provided with 1 GHz Single core processor in an era where you can easily find quad core and abundant dual core processors in the same price bracket even from tier 1 manufacturers. Paltry 512 MB RAM will also limit your smartphone experience.
The Battery capacity is 1800 mAh and you can expect this to last for a day with moderate usage. Capacity sounds decent enough in this price range.
Display and Other Features
The Display is 5 inches in size and supports FWVGA 854 X 480 pixels. If you are looking for a large screen display at budget price point, this might seem tempting. Perhaps the large display size with useable resolution is the highlight of this device.
The phone runs on dated Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean operating system. Intex Aqua i3 attempts to allure users by providing large screen display and 8 MP camera at a budget price, but since at the heart of the device a week chipset powers all other internals, you can’t expect good user experience and smooth performance. In my opinion the compromises you make for the large display won’t be worth it. Intex Aqua i3 will be available soon for 6,570 INR or less.
