Xolo Play 6x-1000 Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Xolo has unveiled an interesting portfolio of devices today and one of them is the hexa core powered Xolo Play 6x-1000. This handset is the company’s first MediaTek MT6591 hexa-core processor based device and it is priced at Rs 14,499 that makes it competitive in the price conscious Indian market. Let’s take a look at the hardware of the Xolo Play 6x-1000 smartphone below.

Camera and Internal Storage

The primary camera unit in the Xolo Play 6x-1000 is an 8 MP primary camera that is coupled with BSI Sensor, LED flash and FHD 1080p video recording capability. A front facing camera of 2 MP is also present for selfies. The camera unit is the same which we have seen on other Xolo phones in mid range segment recently, which form a decent 8 MP shooter. You can also go for Karbonn Titanium Hexa with a good 13 MP shooter in the same price range.

The internal storage is 8 GB and this can be extended to 32 GB using a micro SD card slot. The storage option is pretty decent considering the price tag and it should be enough to handle the basic store requirements of the users.

Processor and Battery

The chipset used is a 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6591 True Hexa core chipset from Taiwanese Giant MediaTek. This chipset employs the powerful Mali 450 GPU clocked at 600 MHz and 2 GB of RAM. With these aspects, this hexa-core chipset is definitely capable of delivering a great performance with smooth app handling and multi-tasking.

Battery capacity is 2,100 mAh, which sounds decent enough considering the display size, software and processor. Battery will last for 532 hours of standby time, 14.75 hours of 3G talk time, 6.81 hours of web browsing time according to Xolo. We will save our judgement for full review. The battery seems average from gaming point of view.

Display and Features

The 5 inch IPS display has carries a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels which amounts to 293 pixels per inch. The viewing angles are acceptable for a mid-ranger and it renders decent color reproduction for a good clarity.

The Xolo Play 6-1000 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and it features connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG to transfer the content from one device to another without the necessity of a host.

Comparison

The Xolo Play 6x-1000 with hexa-core processor will compete with devices such as Karbonn Titanium Hexa, Gionee Elife E6 and Micromax Canvas Knight A350 and Panasonic P81.

What we Like

  • Capable hexa-core processor
  • Support for USB OTG

What we Don’t Like

  • We would have liked a 2500 mAh battery in a gaming oriented smartphone

Price and Conclusion

The Xolo Play 6x-1000 looks like a good value for money device at Rs 14,499. It is packed with a power chipset, good display, acceptable internal storage space, 2 GB RAM, USB OTG support and Android 4.4 KitKat at this price bracket. The phone sounds like a worthy successor to Xolo Play T1000 launched last year. We are apprehensive about battery backup. Karbonn Titanium Hexa with 5.5 Inch full HD display in the same price range is also a viable option if High end gaming doesn’t rank on top of your priority list.
