Looks like HP will be jumping into the mix as well and launch a round dial Smartwatch, before several Android Wear based watches hit store around the world led by Moto 360. This new smartwatch will be designed by American designer Michael Bastian in partnership with HP and Gilt, and is expected to be available this fall.
Smartwatches are still work in progress, and although Android Wear seems to be a step in right direction, no one has been able to nail the smartwatch concept just yet. The right mix of functionality and battery power at justifiable price make’s them a challenge and thus HP will target Luxury segment with its new smartwatch, which is supposed to remind you of a luxury car’s dashboard.
The new HP smartwatch will feature a 44mm stainless steel case and multilayer finish along with inlaid button controls, Galaxy Gear like bezel bolts, a lighted chronograph and interchangeable bands ( black rubber, brown leather, olive green nylon and a limited edition black). The watch syncs with its own app for iOS and Android and will allow users to receive email notifications, control music and get other updates.
Clearly the highlight is the external design – something that looks good on your wrist with some added secondary smartwatch functionality which also allows for a boated price tag. Are you convinced?
