The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is creating lot of buzz in the tech media world as its launch date is approaching. Well, the handset is pegged for August 13 launch and it is being featured in numerous leaks constantly. The latest one in the list comes from the Twitter user @culeaks that shows the handset besides the Apple iPhone 5s and reveals partial specifications of the same.
On comparing the Galaxy Alpha with the iPhone 5s, it is claimed that the Samsung offering is thinner than the Apple phone that measures 7.6 mm. However, the exact dimensions of the upcoming phone remain unknown.
The leaked images also show the handset’s bottom that houses the speaker, microphone and micro USB port. It houses a detachable 1,850 mAh battery that appears to be of less capacity for a 4.7 inch smartphone. The handset carries the model number SM-G850 and utilizes an Exynos 5 Octa chipset with quad-core Cortex A15 and Cortex A7 processors. The internal storage support of the handset is believed to be 32 GB that cannot be expanded further as the handset lacks a micro SD card.
As mentioned above, the Galaxy Alpha will feature a 4.7 inch display that is a Super AMOLED panel carrying a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It will also pack a 12 MP snapper with LED flash and run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.
In addition to this, the User Agent Profile listing by Samsung website has revealed that the Galaxy Alpha will be launched in over five different versions. The base variant will carry the model number SM-G850 and a letter that will depend on the carrier or the region. The profile confirms that the device will arrive with HD resolution of 720p and that the models will have different processor clock speeds.
As per the listing, the G850F meant for Europe and will be clocked at 2.3 GHz, while the others will tick at 2.5 GHz. However, the clock speed of the G850T for T-Mobile is yet to be revealed.
Also, the variant with the model number G850H is claimed to be a 3G only model, but it remains unclear. We expect it to be a 3G only Galaxy Alpha model just like the G900H variant of Galaxy S5 based on Exynos 5 Octa chipset.
While the Galaxy Alpha is pegged to go official on August 13, those in U.K. have the opportunity to pre-order the handset via MobileFun prior to its official unveiling. As per the listing, the device is priced at £549 for its metallic shell. However, there is no information on when the device will be made available for those who pre-book it. The pre-order page has been pulled down by the retailer in a short while.
