Camera and Internal Storage

The Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 comes with an 8 MP auto focus camera at the rear which gets coupled with a 5 MP front facing camera. The camera module is a decent one that is acceptable for the pricing of the handset.  Though the performance of this camera set is yet to be determined, the 5 MP unit with selfie mode will make it a selfie focused smartphone letting users to capture selfies with a snap of a finger, but since the camera is fixed focus one, it won’t be wise to expect much.

There is a default storage space of 8 GB and this again is average in most of the mid-range budget smartphones priced in this range. The storage will be expandable by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card.

Processor and Battery

Under the hood is a 1.4 GHz TRU octa core MT6492M processor from MediaTek. Being capable of incorporating all the eight cores to render performance, this processor could make the device a decent performer. It gets mated to 1 GB of RAM that is again a standard aspect sufficient enough to deliver moderate multi-tasking.

The battery unit responsible for energizing the smartphone is a 2,000 mAh one which is believed to enable the Micromax phone to last up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 180 hours of standby time respectively. Usually, we can see such standard battery units in the smartphones priced in this range and hence, this becomes an average aspect of the handset.

Display and Features

The display unit of the Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo A290 is a 4.7 inch one with a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels. There is nothing astonishing to boast regarding this, but the inclusion of IPS panel helps it render adequate levels of viewing angles.

The Micromax smartphone is fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat and features a good feature set including pre=loaded applications such as M! Games, M! Skin, M! Insurance, M! Security, M! Live, MAd and Opera Mini, Games (Zombie smasher, Bounce ball, bubble X Slice), Kingsoft, BMS, clean master, Games club, Getit, Hike, Swift key and True Caller.
