China based Gionee has created a record of launching the thinnest smartphone – Elife S5.5 with a thin profile of 5.5 mm. With no other vendor trying to break its record it appears like Gionee is prepping to launch an even thinner smarphone this time.

Well, the Chinese manufacturer has started coming up with teasers hinting a thin smartphone on cards. Rumors suggest that this upcoming device could measure 4.8 mm approximately, however there is no official information regarding the same. Also, the teaser reveals the prefix of the handset – Gionee Elife S with the final moniker being a secret.

It is speculated that this device is the one that visited the certification site TENAA previously. From the listing, some of its alleged specifications including the presence of a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor from Qualcomm’s stable and 1 GB of RAM were revealed. Also, the Gionee Elife S (4.8) is likely to feature an 8 MP primary snapper, LTE connectivity and a 2,050 mAh battery.

Other than posting the teaser, Gionee has not revealed any other details such as the specific launch date or the features of the smartphone. However, as the IFA 2014 tech show is drawing closer, we can expect Gionee to unveil this new smartphone in Berlin.
