Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Build quality is good on the new Micromax Canvas Nitro and its feels pretty good in hands as well with rubberized matte finish leather like back cover, which also provides a great grip when you hold the device in your hands. Design wise its not revolutionary but looks slightly better from some of the other phones in competition. It does not weigh much but slightly heavy but on the other side feels real solid as well. Rounded edges on the back cover makes it much easier to hold in hands.

Camera Performance

The rear 13 MP camera can take real good shots in daylight and artificial light and low light performance was also quite decent. The rear camera can record HD videos at 720p and 1080p as well and you also have support to do refocus after taking photos on this device. The front 5 MP camera is quite good for taking selfie and good quality of the video chat.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has IPS LCD display at 720 x 1280 resolution on 5 Inch display which gives great viewing angles and good sunlight visibility. It has 8GB in built memory out which around 5.68 GB is available to the user which gives you enough storage for the apps and games. However you cannot install apps on the SD card without rooting the phone but app data of the apps can be moved from phone storage to sd card. You can get around 1 day of battery backup with moderate usage but on continuous use you will get around 3-4 hours of usage. Available amount of RAM is around 864 MB with idle situation but if you run some more apps then also apps can run with sufficient amount of RAM available.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI which runs on top of android is custom google now launcher which gives me much more options in customization and it also make the phone responsive and faster in terms of usage. We played Blood and Glory, Front Line Commando D Day and these games played fine without any audio or video lag while playing these games and Dead Trigger 2 also did not gave any lag while playing.

Benchmark Scores

  • Antutu Benchmark: 19655
  • Nenamark2:  60.4 fps
  • Multi Touch:  5 point

Micromax Canvas Nitro Gaming Review [Video]

Sound, Video and Navigation

Loudspeaker on this device is fairly loud but its placed the bottom back due to which it can get muffled and partially blocked when you place the phone on its back on a table or flat surface while watching a video. You can play HD video on this device both at 720p and 1080p. GPS navigation works fine and it locked the coordinates pretty quickly in outdoors and in indoors it may take some time or sometimes it may not lock.

  • Slightly Heavy

Conclusion and Price

Micromax Canvas Nitro is available at an affordable price tag of Rs. 12,990 and its available only on snapdeal. We liked almost most of the things on this phone which includes camera, built quality and software as well. It performs pretty good in day to day usage but felt slightly heavy but you wont notice the weight once you start using this device and this happened with us.
