India based Intex Technologies has announced a new entry-level smarphone dubbed Intex Aqua 4X. The handset carries a tempting price tag of Rs 2,999 suggesting that it would be a great offering for the feature phone upgraders. The Aqua 4X is available for sale via the online retailer eBay and could be a great challenger for the low-end smartphones launched by the other vendors.
Despite being priced too low, the Intex smartphone comes with 3G connectivity making it the cheapest 3G smartphone in India for now. Detailing on the specifications, the Intex Aqua 4X flaunts a 4 inch display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor that is backed by 256 MB of RAM. The internal storage capacity onboard is 512 MB and it can be expanded by means of a micro SD card.
In terms of imaging, the Intex smartphone features a 2 MP primary camera at its back that is fitted with LED flash to deliver a good low light performance and is given a VGA front-facer that will facilitate in making basic video calls and in clicking selfies. Under its hood, there is a 1,300 mAh battery that is rated to pump in 3 to 4 hours of talk time and 180 hours of standby time.
Connectivity wise, the Intex Aqua 4X features 3G as mentioned above, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and dual SIM functionality. The only downside is that the handset is fueled by the dated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system instead of the latest v4.4 KitKat that is a part of the entry-level smartphones that are launched in the market lately. Also, there is no word regarding the roll out of an upgrade to the device.
