Next Set of Android One Smartphones to go Official in India by December

It was only in the last week the Google announced its first batch of Android One smartphones made by partners such as Micromax, Karbonn and Spice in India. Within a short span of time, talks regarding the next batch of Android One smartphones have hit the online world.

Well, a latest report by Press Trust of India suggests that the next set of Android One devices will be launched in the Indian market by the end of this year. Google’s partners including Karbonn, Spice and Intex will be launching their offerings in the lineup by this December.

The report quotes Shashin Devsare, Executive Director, Karbonn Mobiles claiming, “Smartphone penetration in India still remains low and we believe there is still a huge scope…We will look at bringing in a device by December-end.” In addition to Karbonn, Spice will also be launching its second Android One smartphone in the country by the year end. Intex could be coming up with its smartphone in January 2015, claims the report.

Apart from India, Google will be launching the Android One smartphones in other markets including Indonesia, Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the soon. While announcing the first batch of Android One phones, the search engine giant partnered with hardware manufacturers including Acer, Alcatel, ASUS, HTC, Intex, Lava, Lenovo, Panasonic and Xolo.

The new generation will also replace low cost MediaTek chipsets with Qualcomm SoCs as was announced by Google at Android One launch event. So if you haven’t bought an Android One device yet and are in a possition to wait another couple of months, you got something to look forward to.
