HTC has announced a slew of smartphones in the Indian market at an event hosted today and the latest entrants include the highly anticipated Desire 820, Desire 820q and Desire 816G. These refreshed variants of Desire 816 that entered the market few months back appear pretty interesting as they are targeted towards different set of users. Here is a detailed comparison to let you know how the Desire 816G differs from the Desire 816.
Display and Processor
Both the smartphones are identical with a 5.5 inch Super LCD2 display panel packing HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels that translate to an average pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. These screens are pretty suitable for handling multimedia content such as playing games, watching videos, browsing the net and more. Furthermore, the Super LCD2 panel consumes less power and conserves the battery life of these smartphones.
The real difference between the two devices is in terms of raw hardware as the Desire 816 is stuffed with a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and Adreno 305 graphics unit. On the other hand, the Desire 816G uses a low cost 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor backed up 1 GB of RAM. Obviously, the Desire 816 is a better performer in the duo.
Camera and Internal Storage
HTC Desire 816G and Desire 816 have similar imaging hardware featuring a 13 MP primary snapper that is teamed up with auto focus and LED flash for better low light imagery, FHD 1080p video recording and HDR shooting mode. This main camera is paired with a 5 MP front-facing camera that can make video calls at HD 720p.
The storage department of the handsets is average with 8 GB of internal storage space with support for expandable memory support up to 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card. And, we do not have any issues in this regard as this storage space should suffice in storing all the necessary content.
Battery and Features
The battery capacity in the HTC smartphones is similar at 2,600 mAh and the Desire 816 it is rated to provide up to 21 hours of talk time and up to 737 hours of standby time respectively. With a similar battery capacity and specifications, the Desire 816G is also expected to be active for approximately the same duration.
The Desire 816 is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, whereas the Desire 816G runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and a trimmed down version of Sense UI. Both the handsets use the Sense UI with enhanced features such as Video Highlights, dual frontal speakers with BoomSound and HTC BlinkFeed.
