Sony Xperia Z3 compact Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Sony took the wraps off the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone earlier this month at the IFA 2014 tech show along with other devices such as the flagship Xperia Z3. Within a month of its launch, Sony has announced the smartphone in India for a price tag of Rs 44,990. The device is basically a downgraded variant of the Xperia Z3 and here is a quick review of it.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Xperia Z3 Compact comes with an impressive imaging department comprising of a 20.7 MP rear camera coupled with auto focus, LED flash for an enhanced performance even low light conditions, HDR and panorama shooting modes. This snapper can make FHD 1080p video recording as well. At the front, the device features a 2.2 MP selfie camera that helps in FHD 1080p video conferencing. Furthermore, the front-facer uses a 25 mm wide angle lens that can capture wider selfie shots.

The internal storage will come with 16 GB of native storage capacity and there is a micro SD card slot onboard that will support additional storage capacity up to 128 GB. We do not have any issues regarding the storage department of the Xperia Z3 Compact as it comes with such impressive aspects.

Processor and Battery

The chipset employed in the Xperia Z3 Compact is a Snapdragon 801 SoC housing a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. The processor will be backed by Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM that will handle the graphic handling and multi-tasking departments efficiently.


The battery capacity is 2,600 mAh combined with the power saving Battery STAMINA mode. This battery is claimed to render 14 hours of talk time and 920 hours of standby time respectively.

Display and Features

The Xperia Z3 comes with a 4.6 inch display with IPS LCD display with a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels translating to a pixel density of 319 pixels per inch. This display layered with a shatter proof glass protection onboard and it uses the Triluminos and X-Reality engine technologies for a vivid and superior display.

The new Moto G runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat platform that is the latest one loaded with rich resources. The connectivity features onboard the device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, NFC and USB OTG. Furthermore, the handset has IP68 certification that makes it water and dust resistant.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will be a direct rival to the Apple iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, new Moto X and others.
