Gionee has released a refreshed variant of last years CTRL V4 in India dubbed as CTRL V4S priced at 9,999 INR. The refreshed variant includes more up to date hardware to help Gionee compete under 10K price range, which is no mean task these days.
The display remains unchanged on paper with a 4.5 inch 854 x 480 pixel (FWVGA) LCD panel powered by 1.3 GHz quad core MT6582 ubiquitous MediaTek budget quad core SoC with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage.
The chipset has grown quite conventional these days, even at a lower price segment. For photography, Gionee has equipped V4S with an 8 MP rear shooter with LED flash and a 2 MP front facing camera. Gionee hasn’t specified any more detail regarding the front camera as of now.
The handset is quite slim at 7.8 mm and houses a 1800 mAh battery which sounds average. Gionee M2 with similar set of hardware will offer you a bigger battery, if that ranks higher on your priority list. Software is customized Android 4.4 Kitkat.
Gionee CTRL V4S doesn’t sound particularly impressive for the asking price. Android One smartphones selling at a lower price, Moto E, Zenfone 4.5 and Zenfone 5 will mark a huge dent in its sales.
“I am delighted to present our consumers with our latest product, the Gionee CTRL V4S. We have introduced this for discerning consumers who love to be connected on the go and are in the lookout for powerful pocket-friendly devices. India is an important market for Gionee and we feel there is no better way to give back to the consumers than by introducing a new smartphone this festive season. With every product we introduce we have been trying to make communication simpler and faster and have been constantly coming up with new features like the Hotknot in this device.” said Arvind Vohra, India Head, Gionee Smartphones
