Camera and Internal Storage

The primary camera on the Galaxy Grand Prime is an 8 MP sensor that is coupled with auto focus and LED flash for an enhanced imaging performance and support to record FHD 1080p video recording. This camera is supplemented with a front-facing 5 MP selfie snapper that has 85 degree wide angle lens to click wide selfies. Furthermore, there is a Groupfie feature that will let users to capture group images. The reasonably priced Samsung with phone with selfie focused front facer will definitely be a great option for the midrange smartphone seekers.

The internal storage is standard at 8 GB that is becoming the trend of entry-level and mid-range smartphones these days. This storage capacity can be expanded up to 64 GB by means of an expansion card slot.

Processor and Battery

A quad-core processor of unspecified chipset ticking at 1.2 GHz clock speed operates under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. This processor is aided by 1 GB of RAM that is required for a moderate multi-tasking performance. This hardware combination should be adequate enough in rendering decent levels of power to the imaging oriented smartphone.

The battery capacity of the Samsung phone is 2,600 mAh that is pretty standard in devices with similar pricing. Also, this battery is rated to pump in a backup of up to 17 hours on 3G.

Display and Features

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime flaunts a usual 5 inch qHD display that has a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 220 pixels per inch. This screen is pretty basic for the pricing of the smartphone, but it should be suitable basic tasks.

Fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat, the handset is packed with the standard connectivity features such as dual SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Comparison

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime with a selfie focused front camera could find a tough competition from Nokia Lumia 730, Lava Iris X5, Asus Zenfone 5, Xperia C3 and new Moto G.

Price and Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime with a pricing of Rs 15,499 is a good smartphone in the mid-range market segment that has moderate specifications. But, expect for its imaging hardware the handset seems to fall short in terms of competition as its rivals pack in better aspects. The display resolution isn’t well matched to what most manufacturers are offering in this price range. If you are purely looking for a smartphone with better hardware capabilities, there are many such alternatives in the market.
