Micromax is reportedly working with Cyanogen Inc to launch a CyanogenMod OS based smartphone. The Inquirer also reports that this phone could be launched very soon before the end of 2014. Rest of the specifications of this rumored smartphone haven’t been specified yet.
To bridge the software gap in budget Android devices, Micromax also partnered with Google as part of Android One program. Now Micromax is reportedly working on a CyanogenMod device to provide more software alternatives.
The CyanogenMod is a very popular Android ROM which also comes loaded in International variant of OnePlus One. It is relatively lighter and faster as compared to Stock Android with more features and options. We are not yet sure if this project will get Google’s blessings and pre-installed Apps as well. Oppo N1 was the first phone to pass Googles Compatibility Test Suit and feature CyanogenMod with official Google App license. Micromax will have to follow the same approach.
Micromax has earned a respectable position and emerged as highest selling domestic brand, by constantly endeavoring to surprise its customer base with new features and turning heads via attractive marketing strategy. If these rumors turn out to be true, this will be another notable feather in domestic manufacturer’s cap.
