HP 7 VoiceTab Quick Review, Price and Comparison

HP recently introduced HP 7 VoiceTab in India, which is essentially a calling tablet priced at 10,990 INR. The VoiceTab tries hard to convince us that it’s an alternative to a large display or phablet smartphone, should you be comfortable with one. Let’s take a look at the hardware HP is offering in this new Android tablet.

Camera and Internal Storage

7 inch tablet won’t be our first choice for photography, but still if you value it as a secondary feature, HP 7 VoiceTab offers basic 5 MP rear shooter (with LED flash) and VGA front camera for basic photography. Going by the MP count this is above average compared to what most other tablets offer in this price range.

Internal storage is again standard at 8 GB and you can further expand this by another 32 GB using MicroSD card support. The storage should be sufficient for most users and won’t be a deal breaker at this price.

Processor and Battery

Processor used is .3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8382 Cortex-A7 SoC aided by 1 GB RAM. The SoC has been a common sight in budget quad core tablets this year and can be considered a decent performer capable of handling the display resolution and basic tasks rather efficiently.

Battery capacity is 3000 mAh, which doesn’t sound outright impressive. Considering the display size and SoC, the tablet is expected to last one day with low to moderate usage. HP claims up to 10 hours of mixed usage time.

Display and Other Features

The display is 6.95 inches in size with modest 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The display is similar in sharpness to the likes of Asus Fonepad 7. In the same price bracket, you can consider tablets like Dell Venue 7 and Oplus Xonpad for HD resolution.

The tablet has a SIM card slot for 3G connectivity. HP is also offering 1 year onsite warranty with this device. Software is Android 4.4.2 KitKat for rich Android experience. Other features include USB OTG, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity, GPS and A-GPS.

Comparison

HP 7 VoiceTab will compete with the likes of Oplus XonPad 7, Asus Fonepad7, Dell Venue 7 and Digiflip Pro XT811 in India.
