Ericsson Partners with Bharti Airtel to Provide 4G LTE Services in India

Ericsson, the Sweden based communications technology firm on Thursday announced that it has inked a deal with leading service provider Bharti Airtel in order to provide 4G network services in India.

LTE is a standard of wireless communication that provides high speed data to the smartphones and data terminals. Airtel and Aircel have announced 4G services in some cities on 2300 MHz band (TDD-LTE) standard, whereas Reliance Jio Infocomm that has a pan India license is yet to launch the services.

Service provider Idea Cellular of Aditya Birla Group has signed a solutions data charging deal for Ericsson’s Evolved IP Network (EIN). This service delivers subscriber broadband services including triple play 2G, 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi via a unified IP transport.

Regarding the partnership, Chris Houghton, Head of Ericsson Region India stated in New Delhi at a company organized event that, “Airtel has selected Ericsson to be its partner in offering LTE (Long-Term Evolution, also marketed as 4G LTE) in India.”
