At an event on Friday, the Taiwan based tech giant HTC released the octa-core Desire 820 smartphones in India alongside its quad-core variant dubbed Desire 820q. These smartphones were announced for the Indian market along with the Desire 816G in September. HTC has priced the Desire 820 at Rs 24,990 and the Desire 820q at Rs 22,500 respectively.
The Desire 820 was initially announced at the pre IFA 2014 event in early September carrying the highlight of being the first 64 bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with support for integrated 4G LTE Cat.4 connectivity. The handset is fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat topped with HTC Sense UI and supports dual SIM functionality.
Talking of specifications, the Desire 820 is given a 5.5 inch HD 720p display and employs 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded externally by another 128 GB. There is a 13 MP primary camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 lens and an 8 MP front facing selfie camera.
Other aspects of the Desire 820 include connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE and GPS/A-GPS and there is a 2,600 mAh battery that is rated to provide 22.4 hours of talk time and 424 hours of standby time respectively.
On the other hand, Desire 820q carries identical specifications as the Desire 820, but the only difference lies in the processing department. The Desire 820q features a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor ticking at 1.2 GHz clock speed paired with Adreno 306 graphics engine and 1 GB of RAM.
