Zen Mobiles has announced its first Firefox OS based smartphone with the launch of the Zen U105 Fire. The handset is exclusively available via the online retailer HomeShop18 carrying a price tag of Rs 1,999. It is claimed by the portal that over 15,000 units of the smartphone have been sold on the first day of launch.
Talking of specifications, the Zen U105 Fire is fitted with a 3.5 inch HVGA display that packs a resolution of 320×480 pixels and employs a 1 GHz Spreadtrum 6821 processor teamed up with 128 MB of RAM. Also, the Zen smartphone comes with a 2 MP primary snapper with LED flash and a VGA front facing camera for video conferencing.
The connectivity features onboard the Zen U105 Fire include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2G and there is 256 MB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded by another 16 GB using a micro SD card. The handset houses a 1,200 mAh battery under its hood to power it.
The Firefox operating system is based on Linux and Gecko technology and it developed on open web standards such as CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript. Furthermore, there is Adaptive App Search or Single Window Search and pre-installed applications such as Twitter, Facebook and others. Also, the Firefox marketplace assists in downloading more applications as well.
