Phillips X2566 Smartphone for Senior Citizen at 3,800 INR

Phillips X2566 is another smartphone launched today, that has been specifically designed for senior citizens. It features large fonts, long battery backup, large keypad keys and SOS function, which makes it apt for use by elderly.

There is 2.4 Inch display with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, which should be apt for elderly who aren’t much tech savvy. FM Radio is also present, and that to wireless. You can conveniently enjoy music and other radio coverage of your choice.

Imaging hardware is quite elementary with only a VGA front shooter. Other features include digital text magnifier, powerful loudspeaker, Dual SIM connectivity, Bluetooth V2.1 and 1630 mAh battery. Phillips claims that this would last for 1128 hours standby time and up to 24 hours talking time.

With changing lifestyles in metros in India and increasing incident of elderly abuse, senior citizens are often left to support themselves by choice or otherwise. We specially designed this phone to make technology more accessible to and user-friendly for the elderly with minimum intervention from others.”


Phillips X2566 is quite affordable at 3,800 INR and will be available across India starting today. It’s a good sign that smartphone manufacturers are making innovative product to help different people better use technology.
