Lava Iris 500 with Android 4.4 Kitkat and Quad Core at 5,499 INR

Lava has introduced Iris 500, a budget Android smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat and standard hardware selling at 5,499 INR. Perhaps the highlight of the device is its large display size.

The 5 inch IPS LCD display feature FWVGA 480 x 854 resolution, amounting to 196 ppi and the processor used is 1.3 GHz Quad core MT6582 which has been all around for an year now.

To assist the chipset, Lava has provided with only 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. This should limit the Android experience for moderate and heavy users, but should be ok for first time android users.

Iris 500 lists a 5 MP camera at the back with LED flash and also checks front camera box with a VGA snapper. Camera options HDR, burst mode, panorama, scene detection, and face recognition.


Iris 500 measures 146.5×72.2×8.7mm and houses an 1800 mAh battery. Other features include 3G, GPRS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB and Bluetooth 4.0.

Dual SIM Iris 500 is meant for first time android users and doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Other options in the same price bracket include Lumia 520, Xiaomi Redmi 1S,Moto E and Asus Zenfone 4.
