Celkon’s Windows 8.1 smartphone , Celkon Win 400, is now available for 4,999 INR. The handset was slated for December release, but has arrived ahead of its schedule. The handset based on Qualcomm Reference Design is exclusively available on Snapdeal.
Celkon Win 400 comes with a modest 4 inch WVGA (480 x 800) display and is powered by 1.3 GHz Snapdragon 200 quad core MSM 8212 chipset with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB expandable internal storage. At the software front, Celkon Win 400 runs Windows Phone 8.1 OS.
It’s a dual SIM smartphone with a basic 5 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front shooter. Win 400 measures 125.4 x 65 x 10.3 mm and weighs just 121 grams. All hardware will be powered by a 1500 mAh battery. Other features include 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.
The specifications are very similar to Micromax Canvas Win A092 which was launched earlier this year, but never managed to hit the retail shelves. The hardware sounds good enough to draw decent performance from resource efficient Windows Phone OS. Those open to Windows Platform and looking for a budget device, can consider Celkon Win 400. For basic users, performance is likely to be better than Android phones at same prices.
Celkon has also partnered with Google for Android One project and the first Celkon Android One phone, reportedly with Qualcomm chipset is expected to arrive in India in January next year.
