Lava is all set to launch an entry-level smartphone in India as the official website has listed a new device called Iris 401. The listing does not share any details regarding the pricing or the availability of the smartphone, but we expect Lava to soon come up with an official announcement of the same.

Notably, the listing reveals the specifications of the Lava Iris 401 and it appears to be a dual SIM smartphone with the dated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system pre-installed in it. Otherwise, the device comes with pretty standard aspects as the other smartphones in the sub Rs 5,000 price bracket.

The Iris 401 is listed to sport a 4 inch TFT LCD display with a WVGA screen resolution of 480×800 pixels. It draws processing prowess from a 1.3 GHz dual core processor that is coupled with a paltry 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of internal storage that can be extended externally by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card.

Imaging wise, the Lava offering features a 3 MP primary snapper at its back for basic photography and a VGA front facing selfie camera for video conferencing. Connectivity aspects onboard the Iris 401 are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G and dual SIM functionality. A 1,450 mAh battery that is incorporated in the smartphone is claimed to pump in 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time to the device.

From the specifications, it appears like the Iris 401 is the upgraded version of the yesteryear model, Iris 401e. The lack of 3G connectivity is a downside, but as we believe the smartphone to be priced in the sub Rs 5,000 price bracket, we cannot expect high speed connectivity from it. Also, most smartphones in this segment miss 3G to keep their pricing low.
