10 months after it was showcased at MWC 2014, Dual screen Yota Phone 2 has now been officially announced. The next generation Yota phone has been priced at 33,000 Rubles or Approx $640 and will be available in 20 European countries this month. It will later move on to China and other Asian markets early next year.
The Yota phone is based on a unique innovative concept and offers 2 displays, one each on front and rear surface. The Rear 4.7 Inch display is an e-ink display, like the one you find in Kindle ebook readers. This display will consumer very little battery and will be light on eyes, which makes it well suited for all reading activity.
You can also customize what you see on the always on rear display, including notifications, messages, etc.
On the front side, there is a 5 inch FHD AMOLED Display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and powered by Snapdragon 800 quad core clocked at 2.3 GHz. The chipset will be assisted by 2 GB RAM and 32 GB Internal storage. Software is Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Dual Screen Yota phone 2 also sports an 8 MP rear shooter and a 2 MP front camera for selfies and video calling. It packs a juicy 2500 mAh battery which should last more than a day with moderate usage. Other features include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, WiFi and GPS.
The first generation Yota Phone recently went on sale in India, although the price wasn’t very competitive. Yota Phone 2 won’t be cheap either, but it is expected to arrive in India sometime later in 2015.
