Acer recently launched Liquid Jade in India priced at 16,999 INR. Although the price tag might seem high for an MT6582 smartphone, spending some time with the neatly designed Liquid Jade, sheds some positive light and we are inclined to admire Acer’s efforts. Let’s discuss the hardware included in the Acer Liquid Jade.
Camera and Internal Storage
We were skeptical about how the MT6582 chipset would handle 13 MP rear shooter, but the result are surprisingly good. Compared to other mid range smartphones, Acer Liquid Jade can capture good images in full light and low light. LED flash also works fine. The rear camera supports 1080p full HD video recording, while the front 2 MP shooter will suffice for good quality video chat.
Internal storage is 16 GB and this can be further enhanced by another 32 GB using MicroSD card support. Around 12 GB is available at user end. There is no partition in the storage and you can use the entire space as you please (for apps and other data).
Processor and Battery
Processor used is MT6582 quad core clocked at 1.3 GHz with Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Around 1.4 GB of RAM is free on first boot which is good enough. The processor is powerful enough for handling smooth day to day and heavy usage.
Battery capacity is 2100 mAh which sounds average considering the display and processor used. Acer hasn’t shared usage stats to indicate how long this can be expected to last.
Display and Other Features
The display is 5 inches in size with 720p HD resolution. The display has good viewing angles and colors, but the display is slightly reflective. It’s a good enough display for day to day usage but not as dazzling as what we saw on Vibe X2 or Honor 6 selling in the same price bracket.
The Acer Liquid Jade is presently running Android 4.4 KitKat with slight customizations. In spite of a 5 Inch display, the phone feels very compact, fits snugly in hands and offers good one handed usage. Other features include Dual SIM support, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and aGPS.
Comparison
Acer Liquid Jade will compete against phones like ZTE Grand S II, Huawei Honor 6, Lenovo Vibe X2 and HTC Desire 816G in India.

Conclusion
In our opinion Acer liquid Jade still finds it hard to justify its price tag, especially considering the competition in the adjacent price range. Having said that, the phone offers a great 13 MP camera, decent compact design and good day to day performance. It would have been a more attractive proposition for a slightly lower price tag.
