Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A with Support for 300 Mbps Download Speed Goes Official

The South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced a new variant of its fourth generation phablet – Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A. The device supports Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation and it is claimed to support a peak download speed of 300 Mbps that is four folds higher than the speeds of existing 4G LTE services.

The LTE-A Tri-Band CA enabled Note 4 variant will receive three frequency bands that will be aggregated into one connection, thereby supporting Category 6 network service. With download speeds of up to 300 Mbps, users can download a 700 MB video in 19 seconds or 10 songs with 40 MB each in just a second.

Interestingly, the Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A is ready for Category 9 service that supports download speeds up to 450 Mbps, but this service is expected to be rolled out sometime in 2015. Notably, Samsung demonstrated the world’s first LTE-A Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation solution with 450 Mbps download speed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 earlier this year.

On the technical specifications front, the Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A borrows the specifications from Galaxy Note 4 that was launched at the IFA 2014 in September. The handset with LTE-A features a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The device features 32 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded externally up to 64 GB via a micro SD card.

The camera set on the Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A includes a 16 MP primary camera with Smart OIS features and a 3.7 MP front facing snapper with f/1.9 aperture for wider selfies. Fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat, the Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A incorporates connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, IR LED, USB 2.0, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and MHL 3.0.

The LTE-A variant of the Galaxy Note 4 arrives equipped with a Snapdragon 810 SoC clubbing a 1.9 GHz quad core Cortex A57 processor and a 1.5 GHz quad core Cortex A53 processor.
