Asus N551JQ Gaming Laptop with Optional Intel RealSense 3D Camera Announced

Asus announced the latest 15.6 inch N551JQ N Series laptop alongside an optional Intel RealSense 3D Camera. This move will definitely pave way for added levels of user interaction. The N551JQ based on Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro is claimed to be the most powerful model in the entertainment centric range of laptops.

It boasts of an elegant aluminum design and is embellished with iconic Asus spun metal finish. This is enhanced with the ripple effect detailing that surrounds speaker grilles and hence, they provide a fresh and modern look. There is a powerful cooling design that is aimed at rendering maximum stability and performance on most demanding applications.  The design is complemented with an illuminated chiclet keyboard with numeric keypad.


When it comes to specifications, the Asus N551JQ is fitted with a 15.6 inch IPS display with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels with the ability to render 178 degree viewing angles. It is claimed that this screen can deliver accurate color reproduction, vibrant and lifelike colors and a stunning visual experience. Also, there is an anti-glare LCD panel that will reduce eye fatigue due to unwanted reflections when used under bright light environments. There is a version of a similar screen sans IPS technology and another one with HD 1366×768 pixel resolution.

Under its hood, the Asus N551JQ is equipped with the fourth generation Intel Core i7 processor that is teamed up with gaming grade NVIDIA GeForce GTX 800 Series graphics chipset. This combination will render seamless multitasking, fluid and fast gaming and smooth video playback experiences.

Furthermore, the N551JQ comes in three different storage options – 750 GB, 1 TB or 1.5 TB of SATA drive at 5400 rpm, 750 GB or 1 TB SATA drive at 7200 rpm, 256 GB of SSD and an optional 24 GB of SSD cache. Also, there is up to 16 GB RAM support in the gaming centric laptop. Also, there is an HD camera and other ports and connectors including a mini DisplayPort, 3 USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, a SD/MMC slot, Ethernet RJ45 port, an external sub woofer port and an audio jack combo.

Other aspects of the Asus N551JQ include ICE power technology certified audio system and a 5,200 mAh battery. There are connectivity aspects such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Intel WiDi support and Ethernet.

There is exclusive Asus SonicMaster Premium audio software in the Asus N551JQ with ICE power technology as mentioned above, Also, there is an external sub woofer that can render a cinematic surround sound experience.

Talking about the Intel RealSense 3D Camera, it provides new ways for users to interact with the notebook. The camera has two lenses providing the ability to recognize and track the user in the three dimensional space. It can track hand, facial and head movements of the users accurately providing the ability to scroll through web pages, play games, open an app or other activities without touching the notebook.

Also, the RealSense 3D feature lets users to add a custom background to online chats and it can be used to scan real life objects in order to create digital 3D models that can be manipulated digitally or replicated using a 3D printer.
