Oppo had been teasing the launch of its R1C smartphone at an event in China on Wednesday ahead of the Xiaomi launch slated to happen today. As teased, the vendor announced the R1C smartphone featuring a sapphire glass panel at its back. The handset comes with upgraded specifications as compared to the Oppo R1S and it is priced at CNY 2,499 (approx. $400). As of now the handset is available on pre-order in China and its shipping will debut on January 20 and there is no word on its global availability.
The Oppo R1C is based on Android 4.4 KitKat with ColorOS 2.0.1 and features a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It is powered by a 64 bit octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor that ticks at 1.5 GHz clock speed teamed up with 2 GB of RAM. There is 16 GB of native storage space in the R1C and it can be expanded externally by another 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card.
The imaging aspects of the Oppo R1C comprises of a 13 MP primary snapper at its back with a Sony IMX214 sensor and f2.0 aperture. Furthermore, there is a 5 MP front facing selfie shooter onboard the smartphone. The battery capacity in the Oppo R1C is a 2,420 mAh battery that should be a capable of rendering a decent backup to the device. Connectivity wise, the dual SIM Oppo R1C supports 4G LTE networks that is impressive.
The mid range Oppo R1C smartphone with sapphire glass back measures 6.85 mm thick. The back panel is highly reflective and unlike other smartphones and it makes the smartphone scratch and shatter resistant.
