Shortly after Lava Iris X1 Grand and X1 Mini, Lava is back with another octa core handset, Lava Iris X8, which has been listed on Flipkart for 8,999 INR. The hardware is quite decent considering the price.
The 5 Inch Display is loaded with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, which means you can enjoy crisp texts and sharp media content. To make it more durable and resistant against daily wear and tear, there is an Asahi Dragontrail protection layer on top.
This time too, Lava is sticking to its Iris Pro design. The handset measures 70.9×143.4×8.6 mm and is quite heavy at 160 grams (is Lava using real metal on edges? Not likely). As the name suggests, Iris X8 is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa core MT6592M processor backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. This can further be expanded by another 32 GB using MicroSD card.
The 8 MP rear camera uses a BSI 3 sensor and is also supported by Dual LED flash for low light photography. For selfies, there is a 3 MP camera on the front side. Battery capacity is a decent 2500 mAh, while other features include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS.
The dual SIM smartphone will be running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. OS is upgradeable to Lollipop, so yes, there is hope you might see lollipop update in future. On paper, Lava Iris X8 seems to do everything right for its price. It has been designed to challenge phones like Yureka and Redmi Note selling in the same price bracket.
