There is lot of heat in Indian budget smartphone market, with Chinese debutants, Motorola and Asus slowly and steadily capturing bigger piece of the pie. Samsung will also jump on Online Exclusive band wagon by launching Samsung Galaxy J1 on Amazon.in for 7,190 INR.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 was recently launched in Malaysia. The handset is fitted with a 4.3 Inch display with WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The handset will be powered by 1.2 GHz dual core Soc, backed by scanty 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. 64 GB MicroSD expansion is also an option.
The handset is running Android 4.4 Kitkat, which isn’t as fancy as Android Lollipop, but would suffice for good Android experience. Imaging hardware includes a 5 MP rear camera, with LED flash and a 2MP camera on the front surface.
The handset is 8.9 mm thick and houses a moderate 1850 mAh battery. Other features of this Dual SIM smartphone include 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and AGPS. Several launch day offers will be listed tomorrow on Amazon.in when the smartphone goes on sale.
Will Samsung Galaxy J1 be that revolutionary smartphone from Samsung that challenges Chinese competition? Nope. It pretty much plays by the same rules. However, it will definitely benefit from the Samsung branding and will be low cost alternative for those looking forward to buying a Samsung labeled device without spending too much.
