Besides LG Watch Urbane, LG has also announced LG Watch Urbane LTE, which interestingly does not run Google’s Android Wear. This is because LG Watch Urbane LTE additionally includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, GPS, Cellular connectivity and NFC, and Android Wear doesn’t support NFC or Cellular connectivity.

LG is reportedly using WebOS or a customized Android for software. It would be impressive if LG has managed to pump new life in three year old WebOS. LG is calling the software ‘LG wearable platform OS’. We will have to wait till the device is showcased to know more.

LG has also included an emergency call button. The whole idea is to make it fully functional independent of smartphone, for situations where you can’t carry your phone with you. Another noticeable change is increase in battery from 420 to 700 mAh.
