Xiaomi has released the Redmi 2 smartphone in India today for an alluring price tag of Rs 6,999. The device carries impressive hardware specifications and features that make it one of the best smartphones in the entry level market segment. The registrations for the Redmi 2 sales will start today and it will be made available on March 24. If you like to buy the device, here is a quick review showing its capabilities.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Redmi 2 offers an 8 MP main camera at its back with BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and 28 mm wide angle lens that seems to be capable of capturing impressive snaps even under low light conditions. This snapper is teamed up with a 2 MP front facer that can take charge of clicking self portrait shots and making video calls. The Redmi 2 is definitely one of the few phones that have good imaging hardware in this price bracket.

A 4.7 inch display is housed by the Redmi 2 and it boasts of HD 720p resolution. It is an IPS laminated panel that will prevent the screen from getting reflected even under bright light conditions such as direct sunlight. The screen is protected by the Asahi Dragontrail glass that makes it stronger than its competitors.

Running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the Redmi 2 is topped with the firm’s MIUI 6. Also, there are connectivity features such as 4G LTE via both SIM cards, USB OTG, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
