Expected India Price of Lumia 640 and 640XL Might Make Them Great Value for Money Devices

Microsoft unveiled the Lumia 640 Dual SIM and Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM smartphones at the MWC 2015 tech show earlier this month. These smartphones are based on Windows Phone 8.1 along with Lumia Denim update.

Now, it appears like Microsoft has started importing these smartphones in India. The import data has shed light on the possible pricing of these smartphones that are to enter the Indian market. As per the details, the Lumia 640 Dual SIM is priced at 4,683 and the Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM is priced at Rs 6,710 respectively. This shows that the latest offerings from Microsoft will compete with best selling entry level smartphones such as Moto E (2015), Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Lenovo A6000. However, it has to be noted that these are not the final pricing of these smartphones.

To refresh on the specifications of the Microsoft Lumia 640, the handset is boasts of a 5 inch IPS ClearBlack display with a HD screen resolution of 720p and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective coating. Under its hood, the device is equipped with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor teamed up with 1 GB of RAM. The Lumia 640 bundles 8 GB of onboard storage space that can be expanded by another 128 GB.

The device features an 8 MP main snapper at its back with LED flash and 1 MP front facing selfie camera for video conferencing. This dual SIM model of Lumia 640 is energized by a 2,500 mAh battery, but it has to be made clear of the device will support 4G or not in India.


On the other hand, the Lumia 640 XL is given a 5.7 inch IPS ClearBlack display with HD 720p resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for protection. The processor, RAM and storage aspects are identical to the Lumia 640. Otherwise, the device boasts of a 13 MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics with full HD 1080p video recording ability and a 5 MP wide-angle front camera to click selfies. A 3,000 mAh battery powers the smartphone providing enough juice to it.

Microsoft has not revealed any word officially regarding the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL in India.
