After much speculation, the Gionee Elife S7 smartphone was launched in the Indian market a few days back for a pricing of Rs 24,999. The handset that went official at the MWC 2015 tech show make use of a 64 bit octa core MediaTek processor and packs in several other enhancements under its hood. Here is a quick review on the smartphone for those who are interested in it.
Camera and Internal Storage
The Gionee Elife S7 arrives with a 13 MP main camera at its back along with autofocus, LED flash, Sony IMX214 sensor and support to record Full HD 1080p videos. Besides this primary camera, there is an 8 MP selfie camera for making video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. These aspects make the device capable of clicking decent snaps and it is on par with the other offerings in its price bracket.
The handset comes bundled with an ample 16 GB of native storage capacity that cannot be expanded further as there is no micro SD card slot onboard. Of course, 16 GB of storage is too low for the users to store all their content in the device.
Processor and Battery
The Elife S7 smartphone is equipped with a 1.7 GHz octa core MediaTek MT6752 processor with 64 bit processing support. It is further paired with 2 GB of RAM. This combination of chipset and RAM makes the Gionee smartphone capable of handling things efficiently without any clutter.
A 2,750 mAh battery powers the smartphone from within rendering a decent backup to the device. We expect this battery to last up to a day under mixed usage without any hiccups.
Display and Features
The Gionee Elife S7 is given a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED display. This screen features a FHD screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels translating to a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch. In addition to the better clarity and color reproduction rendered by the panel, it is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection making it scratch resistant.
Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Gionee Elife S7 is wrapped with Amigo UI 3.0. The device is packed with connectivity aspects such as 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. The device Hi-Fi level headphone and offers superior sound quality with the Hi-Fi standard sound system featuring sound restorations that render a home theater system experience to the slim smartphone measuring only 5.5 mm in thickness.
