Xiaomi has announced on its official twitter page that it will hold a Global event in India on 23rd April, 2015 and launch a new Mi smartphone. This could be Xiaomi E4, which is similar to Xiaomi Mi4, but with 2 GB RAM or perhaps Mi5 or Xiaomi Ferrari which surfaced in benchmark leaks last week.
Xiaomi E4 surfaced a few weeks back and has same Snapdragon 801 quad core chipset, 5 inch full HD display, 13 MP camera, but with 2 GB RAM instead of 3 GB in Mi4.
Xiaomi could also unveil Mi5 since it has been almost one year since Mi4 launch. The new Mi5 is expected to feature top notch specs and new manageable 5 inch display design. The handset might also flaunt Android Lollipop based MIUI6 ROM.
Xiaomi Ferrari (Codename) on the other hand, is a Snapdragon 615 running smartphone with 4.9 Inch full HD display, Android Lollipop, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP camera and 16 GB internal storage. The handset is most likely the one to launch on 23rd April for a price of 14K to 15K INR.
Incidentally 23 April is also the day when Asus has scheduled much awaited Zenfone 2 launch event in India. Asus won’t be too happy about Xiaomi stealing it’s launch day thunder, but that is becoming a trend these days. We have seen Flash sales turn into open sales at the opportune moment when rivals unleash a new product more than once this year.
We won’t have to wait too long to know what Xiaomi has up its sleeves. India is clearly a very important market for Xiaomi, a fact that the Chinese manufacturer has reiterated several times before. Whatever is coming, should be something great that you can buy for an amazing price. Since the event is in the country, India availability won’t be delayed either.
