Does it look similar to other Xperia series flagships?
Xperia Z3 Plus is slimmer than its predecessor measuring 6.8 mm and is also a few grams lighter at 144 grams. The design language remains similar.
What is the processor used inside?
Sony has included the controversial Snapdragon 810 Octa core chip, with 4 Cortex A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz and another 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. The chipset has been in news for wrong reasons, primarily overheating.
Is Sony using QHD display like all modern flagships?
The display has scratch resistant layer, oleophobic coating, Sony’s X-reality engine, but is missing on the Quad HD (2K) Zeitgeist. The display has 1080p full HD resolution. In real life usage, the difference between QHD and Full HD panel isn’t very well pronounced, so this shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
With just 6.8 mm thin design, did Sony manage to fit in a MicroSD card slot?
Yes. Besides 32 GB onboard storage, you can plug in 128 GB MicroSD storage and thus, media consumption won’t be a problem.
Sony is using the same 20.7 MP camera again?
Sony is using a 20.7 MP rear camera module same as in Xperia Z3,Z2 and Z1, but the company has engineered it to occupy less space (o.25 mm slimmer). The rear camera can record 4K videos and the front 5.1 MP camera can record 1080p videos too. Though we have seen the same 20.7 MP sensor in last few Xperia flagship, but camera performance has consistently improved.
Are those irritating flaps on USB port gone for good?
Similar to M4 Aqua, there are no flaps on the USB port and audio jack and yet the phone is IP67 dust and water resistant certified.
How is the battery backup?
There is a 2930 mAh battery inside that can deliver maximum 17 hours of 3G talktime. We will have to spend more time with the device to know about the battery performance. Stay tuned for the full review.
What are connectivity options available?
Like all high end Sony smartphones, a full set of connectivity options including 4G LTE /3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ GLONASS, MHL 3.0 and NFC are present.
