After the success online exclusives have tasted in recent past, more and more Chinese manufacturers are feeling confident about entering Indian market. Next on this crowded list is Elephone, as its G7 is now retailing on Snapdeal for 8,888 INR.
Elephone G7 is only 5.5 mm thick and is powered by 1.4 GHz MediaTek MT6592M octa core chipset, paired with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB on-device storage. The display is 5.5 Inches in size and sports 720p HD resolution.
On the rear side, you will find a 13 MP fast AF shooter with f2.0 wide aperture lens and two tone flash complemented by an 8 MP front selfie snapper. Other features include 2650 mAh battery (2050 mAh is also mentioned on the product page), Dual SIM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The product page lists 4G LTE too, but that might also be a typographical error and needs to be confirmed.
Mr Ji, the CEO of Elephone, said: “We’re glad to cooperate with Snapdeal and willing to bring more good products to India like G9 and P4000.”
The spec sheet is a little less glittering than what you would usually expect from a new Chinese entrant, who often compensate for what they lack in terms of brand appeal with jaw dropping hardware. The 64 bit and Lollipop glazed arrows are missing from its quiver too. Obviously it is too soon to draw any sorts of conclusions as of now.
In case you are wondering about after sales services, Elephone is offering 1 year warranty with every purchase. We didn’t find any relevant information regarding how sparse service stations will be on the India website. There is option for contacting customer case using skype and the website also states the following.
“Elephone made agreement with authorized agents, 1 year warranty isprovided. Customer who needs repairing could contact your seller [Snapdeal]. They’re going to send the phones back to us and get it fixed.”
