Display

The Honor 7 comes with an IPS LCD display, where the Samsung sticks to its sAMOLED display in the S6. Display quality on both the screens is great and looks almost the same to the naked eye, but if we get into the nitty-gritty of the pixels then S6 comes above the Honor 7, as it has 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution which is higher than Honor’s 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Performance

If we pay attention to the performance of both the devices, Honor 7 has HiSilicon Kirin 935 which competes with the Samsung’s Exynor 7420. Both have 8 cores and the chipsets are clocked at almost the same speed. The performance cannot be judged looking at the spec sheet, as the phones possess different specifications.

We used both the phones for weeks and the results were really impressive, as far as the performance is concerned. In some cases Samsung had extra heating issues if compared to the Honor 7, but both managed to avoid the glitches and lags while multitasking and gaming. The Honor costs way lesser than the S6 but when it comes to performance, it has all the might to stand aside the S6.

Camera

If we look at the megapixels of the shutters, Honor 7 has 20 MP camera and the S6 features a 16 MP camera. Honestly, the megapixels don’t count much when it comes to the quality of the pictures. When we saw the results, Galaxy S6 was few steps ahead the Honor 7. There is no doubt that Honor 7 also boasts of a great set of camera but it lacks in colour and detail departments when compared to the S6.

S6 features the Optical Image Stabilization, which is absent in the Honor 7, and the Honor 7 record HD video at 30fps where the S6 can record it at 60fps resolution. Moreover, the Camera sensor size is a bit larger in S6, which is the main reason for the change in quality of photos.

Camera Comparison

Battery

One of the most crucial areas of concern in smartphone is the battery. Honor 7 comes with a 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery that is a lot bigger than the Galaxy S6’s 2550 mAh Li-Ion battery. S6 comes with a higher resolution display which naturally demands more charge to run. Honor does not support wireless charging but the S6 does, and both support fast charging.

Overall, the Honor 7 has a great battery life and definitely overlaps the Samsung S6’s battery performance.

Cost Effectiveness

We recognize Samsung as a big player and it definitely has a bigger brand value as compared to Huawei’s smartphone making brand Honor. Still if we notice the timeline of Honor in Indian market, it has raised its graph in terms of value and quality. Since Honor 7 is more affordable and has a great performance in almost all the departments, it is the better choice if you wish to buy a great phone at a reasonable price. The Galaxy S6 is an amazing phone to use, but there are many better choices available in the same price range and seems like Samsung is asking for too much in the name of brand value.

Verdict

In this comparison, we just tried to figure out if you can consider Honor 7 in lieu of Samsung Galaxy S6. In my opinion, Honor 7 is a good phone and comes at a reasonable price if compared to S6. The areas of compromise will be display and camera majorly, still it’s not that Honor 7 underperforms in these departments but S6 is a little better.

Other than the camera and display, Samsung also has some extra perks like wireless charging and better GPU, but it does not support microSD expansion which helps the Honor 7 to get a boost in this comparison. Those who are looking for a device that performs well and costs reasonably can go Honor 7 over Galaxy S6.
