Microsoft Lumia 550 Most Affordable Windows 10 Phone India for INR 9399

At the Microsoft event held in October, they announced a lot of new devices and one of those was the Microsoft Lumia 550. It is a budget oriented device powered by Windows 10 and with support for 4G LTE. Recently this device went on sale in the United States and today, in an event held in Hyderabad, Microsoft launched this device in India at a price of INR 9,399 only.

Lumia 550

The Lumia 550 is the basic offering from Microsoft with Windows 10 running out of the box. The device has been optimised to run Windows 10 on a lower hardware and should continue to function smoothly. Even though being a basic offering from Microsoft, it supports 4G LTE in India using the band 4 frequencies. They launched the dual-SIM version in India which is priced at INR 9399 only.

Coming down to the specifications of the device, it features a 4.7inch display with a 720p display (1280 x 720 pixels resolution) which makes the pixel density to be 315 ppi and is carrying the Snapdragon 210 under the hood clocked at 1.1GHz. The device features 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal onboard storage, which can be expanded via a MicroSD card on the device up to 200GB. The device features a 2100 mAh battery under the removable polycarbonate back which is expected to last over 25 days on standby.

Talking about the camera on the device, we have two cameras. The primary camera located on the back is a 5 MP shooter and the secondary camera, location on the front of the device is a 2 MP shooter for those selfies.

The device features 802.11 b/g/n WiFi on board, along with Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS. The device can be connected using a MicroUSB port and not a USB Type-C port that we saw on the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the 950XL.

As far as the colour options go, the device will be available in 2 colours, White and Black starting December 23 for INR 9,399 only. Last month, Microsoft had launched the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the 950XL in an event held in New Delhi. These two devices are higher end Lumia devices that we have previously covered.

All in all, the device is going to be a low-cost Windows 10 device with support for 4G LTE and will be available next week. The cost of the phone might be something that lets it down because on the Android side of things, a lot of manufacturers are offering much better specifications for this price range.
