Xiaomi to Launch Redmi Note 3 in India with Snapdragon 650

Yesterday, Xiaomi teased all their fans about an awesome announcement that was coming their way today. And today, they announced that they will be launching the Redmi Note 3 in India, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and with a 16-megapixel camera!

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 India

The Redmi Note 3 was launched in China last year in November with a MediaTek processor, but in India, Xiaomi won’t launch a phone with the MediaTek processor, so we get the phone with a Snapdragon processor.

Xiaomi has not officially released a date for the launch of the device, but they are looking for 100 people, or “explorers” as they like to call them to test the device first-hands before they launch it full in the country.

The Redmi Note 3 is made up of a full metal body, giving it the premium feel that one would want from such a device. Along with the full metal body, the device also boasts a fingerprint sensor, a first in the Xiaomi lineup, that adds to the premium feel of the device. The fingerprint is placed at the rear, just under the camera (the new favorite place for smartphone manufacturers to put a fingerprint sensor) and is expected to be really fast, as claimed by Xiaomi.

The Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch full-HD display, which gives it a pixel density of approx 401 ppi. The device also features a dedicated reading mode, which allows you to read on the device without much strain on your eyes. The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650, clocked at 1.8GHz.

For the storage option, Xiaomi had launched 2 variants, the 16GB model and the 32GB model. The 16GB model is equipped with 2GB of RAM, whereas the 32GB model is equipped with 3GB of RAM.

Coming down to the camera of the device, the device features a 16-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The secondary camera measures up at 5 megapixels, without a flash. The phone is powered by a 4,050mAh battery and has dual SIM slots.

Pricing and Availability

The Redmi Note 3 is expected to be priced around INR 10,100 or so, but we haven’t heard anything from Xiaomi on the pricing yet. The same goes for the availability because Xiaomi hasn’t stated a date for the launch of the device in India, however, they are running a contest to select 100 people to try the phone first-hand and that ends on 31st January.

Conclusion

All in all, the Redmi Note 3 is a great device, with great specifications in the price range that it is competing in. We are waiting to get our hands on the device and try it out ourselves to see if it is capable enough the way it is claimed to be.
