With just 6.9mm thick at the thickest point, the Gionee S6 is definitely a really slim phone. With the slimness of the phone, you’ll think that the device will also compromise on other things, but that’s not the case with the Gionee S6.

The Gionee S6 sports a 5.5-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the screen, you’ll find a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, backed by 3GB of RAM. The device comes with 32GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded with the use of a microSD card up to 128GB.

The device runs an Android Lollipop based custom ROM called the Amigo OS, which is expected to be updated to Android Marshmallow in a few months time. The entire device is powered by a 3150mAh battery which is non-removable, and yet the device weighs a mere 147 grams.

On the camera side of things, you’ll find a 13-megapixel primary camera, with an LED flash. The secondary camera, located just to the left of the earpiece is a 5-megapixel shooter. The device also has support for dual SIM cards and both the sim cards can work on 4G networks. The device also has LTE Band 40, which only a few telecom providers in India offer at the time of writing this article.

Pricing and Availability

Just as the title suggests, the Gionee S6 will launch for a price under INR 20,000 and will launch before 26th January in India. The actual availability of phone is still not confirmed, but as soon as it launches, we should hear more about the actual availability of the device.

The Gionee S6 lacks a fingerprint sensor, which would have been a really good addition to this phone. These days, a fingerprint sensor is a must have in all the smartphones. But even without that, the device seems really promising. The Gionee S6 is definitely an ultra slim phone, that packs a good configuration under the hood. We will definitely get our hands on the Gionee S6 as it launches in India, and bring you the review of the device as soon as we are done testing the device.
